What steps to take
Register and Activate MyTextMate
Follow the instructions below. Registration and activation are as easy as 1-2-3.
Step 1: Download the MyTextMate app from the Web, App Store, or Google Play.
Step 2: Open the app and Sign In (create an account) by inputting your phone number and completing a one-time password verification.
Step 3: Once completed, your account is activated and you’re taken to the “Connect Your School” screen. Select Florida Gulf Coast University from the list. If you do not see it listed, you can search for the school.
Now the fun begins: You’ll begin to receive your daily text reminder of important upcoming due dates. MyTextMate reminders are proven to be the most effective and reliable way of notifying students. Be sure to spread the word to your peers!

Choose when to receive my daily reminder
Within the MyTextMate app, access Settings to customize:
- The timing of reminders
- How the text greets you
- How many reminders to send
- How many days in advance to send the reminder(s)
- And more!
Set up extra reminders
"Extra reminders" can also be set up for items outside Canvas such as a meeting and final exam.
Within the MyTextMate app, access Reminders to add reminders that aren’t in Canvas.
Rename courses
Within the MyTextMate app, access Courses to enable and rename your courses.
Preview customized text messages before sending
Yes, with the “Message Preview” feature. Within the MyTextMate app, access Preview after customizing your text messages to see how the next reminder will look.

MyTextMate offers text support for all students. Just text to this support number to receive help: (954) 603-4733
