Why is my device running slowly during the installation?
Reindexing of Windows Search will slow down your device during the installation process. Once it's finished, normal performance will return.
Go deeper: This means that when you use the search bar on your Windows computer to find files, apps, or emails, your computer uses something called an index, like a digital list of everything on your device. Over time, this list can get out of date or messy, especially after big updates or changes.
Reindexing means your computer is rebuilding that list from scratch so that search results are faster and more accurate. While it's doing this, your computer might slow down a bit because it's working hard in the background. But once it's done, everything should run normally again, and your searches will work better.
Why did I have to restart multiple times during the installation process?
If you were unable to install any pending Windows updates as recommended before the Windows 11 installation went out, these pending updates could make multiple restarts necessary.
