Is AppsAnywhere available for Macs? AppsAnywhere is only available for Windows computers. If you have a Mac, you can access AppsAnywhere through the FGCU virtual lab. Please access the How to Access the Virtual Lab Knowledge Base article to learn more.
How do I access licensed software off-site? License software is accessible off-site through the virtual lab. If you are on campus, licensed software is accessible from any computer.
How can I request additional software to be added to AppsAnywhere Faculty/Staff members can request additional software be added to AppsAnywhere. Please see the Software Request page for more information. A link to the software request page is also provided to Faculty/Staff through the AppsAnywhere portal.
How do I access AppsAnywhere from my personal device? Please access the Accessing AppsAnywhere on a Personal Device Knowledge Base article to learn more.
There are a lot of applications, how do I find my application quickly? There is a search box in the top right-hand corner to search for applications. The keyboard shortcut “s” takes you directly to the search box. You also have the option to ‘Favorite’ apps in AppsAnywhere that you can then use to quickly filter the apps you commonly use.
Why is it taking such a long time to open an application? The first time you launch an application, it may be slow. After the initial launch, the application will load faster.
Can I save my work locally? Yes, as the application runs locally on the PC. However, we highly recommend uploading your documents to OneDrive or save it on a USB flash drive for integrity purposes. IMPORTANT NOTE: This is NOT the case in the Virtual Lab environment. If you save your work there, it will not save and likely be gone.
Why can’t I find an application under the programs menu? Until the application is run once it isn’t virtually installed on the system, so the only way to launch it is through the AppsAnywhere portal.
How do I access deeper training and informational materials for AppsAnywhere? Additional training and frequently asked questions can be found on the AppsAnywhere Hub.

How can I enhance my learning with AppsAnywhere (i.e., the benefits to students)? 1) Simple and seamless experience Access all your course applications in one place, via the AppsAnywhere portal. 2) Better hardware and software performance The more applications are delivered through AppsAnywhere, the better the computer performance. By virtualising applications through AppsAnywhere, it removes the need to have them locally installed on computers. This means fewer issues and conflicts with other software and more available computer power to deal with the applications in use - even for specialized apps. 3) Enhanced teaching flexibility Access, plan and complete your work from anywhere - no more scrambling to find an available machine. Bid farewell to late night library runs and say hello to a new found flexibility. 4) Better security protection Accessing software through AppsAnywhere is more secure than having it locally installed on managed or personal devices. You run less risks of being locked out of your device, having your intellectual property stolen, or infecting the university network and other devices. 5) Collaboration opportunities AppsAnywhere opens collaboration opportunities between academics, researchers and students to give you the best possible experience during your course. Managing authorizations, licenses and protecting your work is easier with AppsAnywhere. 6) Reduced reliance on IT support ITS has done all the hard work to remove software complexity for you and ensure seamless access. You can pick up your work where you left it (if you save it) and access it on any device by logging in. And if there are any issues, we can resolve them remotely, much faster. 7) Increased engagement and satisfaction By removing the friction in accessing course software and materials, you become a more effective learner. Less distractions, less time spent on logging in and switching between different environments, and more time doing meaningful work.

How can I enhance my course delivery with AppsAnywhere (i.e., the benefits to faculty)? 1) Simple and seamless experience Direct students to one place to access all applications needed on the course, via the AppsAnywhere portal. 2) Better hardware and software performance The more applications are delivered through AppsAnywhere, the better the computer performance. By virtualising applications through AppsAnywhere, it removes the need to have them locally installed on computers. This means fewer issues and conflicts with other software. The first launch sometimes takes a little bit longer, but after that your software will behave as though it's locally installed. 3) Enhanced teaching flexibility Access, plan and deliver your work from anywhere - you don't have to be physically present in the lab, you can have the same content and experience on any device, in any location. Use multiple versions of software without having to update your course materials. And if you want to try a new application halfway through the year, you can get access within hours or days. 4) Deliver your course in any location No more scheduling nightmares if your lab is unavailable. How many times has your teaching been disrupted because your lab or preferred teaching space was unavailable, or due to technology issues? 5) Cost-effective software usage The platform can help institutions manage software licenses more efficiently, ensuring that faculty have access to the tools they need without unnecessary expense on unused licenses. 6) Protect your intellectual property Accessing software through AppsAnywhere is more secure than having it locally installed on managed or personal devices. You run less risks of being locked out of your device, having your intellectual property stolen, or infecting the university network and other devices. 7) Collaboration opportunities AppsAnywhere opens collaboration opportunities between academics, researchers, guest lecturers or subject matter experts, to offer your students the best possible experience during your course. Managing authorizations, licenses and protecting your intellectual property is easier with AppsAnywhere - it can be done from a dashboard with instant access to new users. 8) Reduced reliance on IT support ITS has done all the hard work to remove software complexity for you and ensure seamless access. Once students have their licenses and provisions set up, they can pick up their work where they left it (if you save it) and access it on any device by logging in. And if there are any issues, we can resolve them remotely, much faster. 9) Give your students every chance to succeed No more excuses for not handing in assignments on time. Students no longer need to access specific computers in specific locations to gain access to software. They can do that from the comfort of their home or their dorm, the cafe or the library, between work shifts or childcare commitments. 10) Increased student engagement and satisfaction By removing the friction in accessing course software and materials, students become more effective learners. Less distractions, less time spent on logging in and switching between different environments, and more time doing meaningful work.
