FREQUENT QUESTIONS
APPSANYWHERE FAQ
Is AppsAnywhere available for Macs?
AppsAnywhere is only available for Windows computers. If you have a Mac, you can access AppsAnywhere through the FGCU virtual lab.
Please access the How to Access the Virtual Lab Knowledge Base article to learn more.
How do I access licensed software off-site?
License software is accessible off-site through the virtual lab. If you are on campus, licensed software is accessible from any computer.
How can I request additional software to be added to AppsAnywhere?
Faculty/Staff members can request additional software be added to AppsAnywhere. Please see the Software Request page for more information.
A link to the software request page is also provided to Faculty/Staff through the AppsAnywhere portal.
How do I access AppsAnywhere from my personal device?
Please access the Accessing AppsAnywhere on a Personal Device Knowledge Base article to learn more.
There are a lot of applications, how do I find my application quickly?
There is a search box in the top right-hand corner to search for applications. The keyboard shortcut “s” takes you directly to the search box. You also have the option to ‘Favorite’ apps in AppsAnywhere that you can then use to quickly filter the apps you commonly use.
Why is it taking such a long time to open an application?
The first time you launch an application, it may be slow. After the initial launch, the application will load faster.
Can I save my work locally?
Yes, as the application runs locally on the PC. However, we highly recommend uploading your documents to OneDrive or save it on a USB flash drive for integrity purposes.
IMPORTANT NOTE: This is NOT the case in the Virtual Lab environment. If you save your work there, it will not save and likely be gone.
Why can’t I find an application under the programs menu?
Until the application is run once it isn’t virtually installed on the system, so the only way to launch it is through the AppsAnywhere portal.
